Just got my YMF 724 PCI working on my Mandrake 7.1 box (2.2.15). Thanks to the Latest Alsa drivers (0.5.8) and the excellent guide provided by SHANU. http://www.exocore.com/linux/yamaha I am not able to *hear* any mp3's using xmms (ver 1). If I use the Alsa player or any other mp3 player KMP3, things work out fine. The problem is only with xmms. I do not get any error messages from xmms when I try to play mp3's, xmms just chugs along as if nothing is wrong, even the spectrum analyzer jumps up and down, but no sound.. I even tried tinkering with the audio plugins but still no luck. Will removing the xmms rpm's and renstalling (from the Mandrake cd) help?? Or do I have to compile Xmms from source? I think that I will lose Mandrake specfic goodies if I do this. Any pointers anyone?
