Alsa drivers will certainly help you a lot for nonstandard sound cards.
By the way - fix the blasted date on your machine - today is not august
23, 1988. I don't care if you have all sorts of 3l33t w4r3z on your
machine which will expire if the correct date is set (the usual reason for
a weird date around here)
