If you are using XFree 3.3.6 or X4, then the graphics device tab in 
XF86Config for SiS6326 should be something like:

# Device auto configured:
Section "Device"
    Identifier  "SiS 6326"
    VendorName  "Unknown"
    BoardName   "Unknown"
    VideoRam    8192

What distro/version of Linux are you using? Anyway, to get the most 
out of X on a SiS6326 chipset, you should use atleast XFree3.3.6. RHL 
6.2 comes with this, so upgrade, and run Xconfigurator, or xf86setup. 
Should give you a working config file which you can fine tune.
