1. There is no company called Linux to issue certifications.

2. Certifications are a way for these mega-corporations to make an extra
buck. They realize that many companies looking for people with certain
skills don't have the time, money or clue to seperate the wheat (or rice)
from the chaff. They therefore come up with a certification program where
they can milk money from the professionals wishing to get certified. The
companies, wrongly IMO, think that if they hire someone who has been
certified they are getting a guaranteed minimum level of expertise.

3. I will never work for a company that asks me if I am certified. If 4+
years of learning Linux from scratch solving day-to-day real life problems
does not count for anything with a company, they probably deserve the
certified moron that they finally hire.

4. Would you actually like someone saying that you meet a standard minimum
level of expertise?

Homer: And, these Hardy Boys books are great, too! This one's about
smugglers!
Bart: They're all about smugglers.
Homer: No, not this one! "The Smugglers of Pirate Cove". It's about
pirates.
