Hi guys,
I'm back.I'm giving it another try.My parents are also willing to use
linux.I will try my best to make it easy for them (with the help of linux
users all over the world (because thats the way it works and was
developed.).What I require is an environment in which I can learn about
computer science using all the resources that are there on the net with no
restrictions by people who just want to make a buck off you. What my parents
want is email and wordpad and printing (they dont even want to browse the
internet (yet - also for them to learn a permanent connection to the net is
the only solution - which is not possible and will only be possible when
cable modems take off here).I understand that it may not be as polished and
smooth as using something like windows (for desktop users) but I think that
linux is a diamond in the rough. So tell me - How do I switch to linux - at
home?I have a 3.2 GB HDD which is fully occupied by a fat32 partition
containing Windows 2000.I want to be able to retain the data I have in this
partition.I have spent on cds containing various distributions of linux.I
have the internet so I can download any software I want for my
requirements. Now how do I do it?All the storage place is occupied by Windows
so there is the issue of being able to retain this data.I feel I am
trapped.I feel very badly about this because I have all the software to run
Linux (tons of it!) and make the switch but I cant do it because
repartioning will make me lose the data I already have. Can someone please
help me?
Regards,
mdavid
