Hi Vineet,

A proxy server's job essentially to receive request from the LAN for
browsing on the net, hide IP address of the LAN/requested PC and pass on the
request to the net as if its own and when receives the info from net then
pass on to the LAN/requested PC.

The proxy server for Linux is Squid. You will have to give IP address to the
Proxy manully and use DHCP for browsing. You can get more info from man
pages for squid in terms of configuration/implementation.

Subnetting involves routing for which you will require routers to route
traffic between the subnets.

Hope this info helps.

regards,

Vaibhav
