hi list
in real problem. one of the machine here ( a pentium, HP vectra VE) has
RH linux 6.2 installed. today the machine just hanged ( nobody works on
the machine , it is used as a server) and any attempt to reboot it by
pressing the front panel power on button was futile. so i switched off the
main power supply and restarted the machine.
this is a decidated machine , no dual boot etc.
after LILO the machine tries to load linux , proceeds to a stage just
before the
'welcome to red hat ' message ( hard- disks etc. are detected ) and then
again starts rebooting itself. machine is really going in a loop , again
proceeds till that stage and starts rebooting itself. this happened 6-7
times , then i decided to switch off the machine.
i didn't try to do anything funny with this
machine. no changes etc. no error messages etc. are produced btw. so i am
totally clueless. before attempting anyhthing ( i don't know what) i
thought it would be better to ask list's opinion.
would appreciate your help
