Hi All!

At home, I work in my Linux machine which is running
RedHat 6.2 (PCQ). It's a P-II 266Mhz machine. I work
with some plasma simulation programs whicb are very
much CPU intensive and designed to run for several
hours at a stretch. However, when I run the programs,
say after 5 minutes my CPU starts giving warning that
temperature is high. There are several queries I would
like someone of you to help me out!

1) The BIOS is now set to give off warning whenever
temperature of the CPU reaches 50 degree Celsius. Is it
less?

2) Is it potentially dangerous to keep going after the
warning comes out? On several occasions I just ignored
the warning and the program kept on runninh. Nothing
happend!

3) Is it possible for the kernel to sense the CPU
temperature and suspend the CPU intensive jobs only to
wake them up after the CPU has cooled off? If yes,
where to get help?

4) What is the best solution?

I shallbe very glad if someone has any advice. TIA,

Madhurjya
