HI,
I have a small problem with remote X. when I do
startx -- -query xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx :1
the X login screen comes up but gets automatically killed after about 5
minutes. Xlib complains that there is no authentication etc and gives up.
How do I ensure authentication?
from xterm I've tried
xauth list $DISPLAY
telnet sgimachine
login
password
%xauth add $DISPLAY . <cut and paste MIT cookie>
(here Irix spews out errors telling there is no such thing)
If I simply try to start something on the Irix via telnet it cannot
connect to Linux X due to lack of permissions (naturally)
Is there someway I can get the Irix machine to authenticate itself or do I
have to make a hole in my Linux box (using xhost + whatever) to run remote
applications on Irix?
