What I mentioned - different smtp servers in the DS lines - stop and restart
sendmail - is the best (and most foolproof) way. As for dns lookups and
delivery - your ISP has far better bandwidth than you do - and they are
connected 24*7 to the net. So any mail that is deferred will be delivered
quite soon - not remain stuck in your mailqueue.
That's another reason NOT to simply send mails from your local dialup instead
of smarthosting (using DS) through your ISP's smtp server.

smtp.flashmail.com is located in the usa. it will naturally be slower.

connect to the smtp server of whichever isp you are dialing into. Easy to
switch one single comment in sendmail.cf and restart sendmail - less than 1
minute.
