hi folks,
i have recently setup RH linux 6.2 from an official (a.k.a. licenced) pack
(the deluxe version). my system specs are as follows :-
Pentium-III @500MHz
Original Intel 440BX Motherboard
256MB RAM
8 GB HDD
Matrox Millennium G400 AGP card with 16 MB of RAM
the problem is with X. it runs on a default resolution of 1024x768 (i think
its 32-bit). when i try to reduce the resolution by hitting Ctrl-Alt-(minus),
the resolution drops down to 800x600 but the screen size becomes scrollable,
i.e. the screensize is bigger than the monitor display area. as a result, i
have to *scroll* the desktop.
i looked at the X's config file but the viewport is set to 0,0 everywhere.
what is the way of bringing resizing my desktop to fit my 15" monitor screen
size?
any help would be grately appreciated.
