Here is an inelegant alternative. I am sure this will _not_ work ;)
Output to a file using typescript or std redirection [in tty
console]
Open the dumped filed in Xterm
Open an Graphics editor, create a "Text Box", dump the contents of
the files [um i guess using cut and pase from the Xterm]
Simulate a console by stting appropriate background color of the
TextBox.
Save as..
