Hi there,

Do U mean that after logging in everything becomes OK and the display is
normal or do U say "everthing works" b'cos U are able to see the
appropriate disk activity etc. (ie display is not proper even after a
successfull login)...

If it's the latter then try the `reset` or the `stty sane` commands to
reset your terminal characteristics... If it is the former and only your
username and password are not showing up, it's because the terminal has
not been properly reset after the "login screen" is displayed - usually
from the file "/etc/issue.net" I guess... In this case modify the file to
include the appropriate terminal display characteristics in the issue.net
file after everything has been displayed... This may mean something like
appending "[1;37;40m" (without the quotes) to the file "/etc/issue.net"...

HTH ... Narain.

Your terminal settings seem to be screwed up somewhere.
Try setting your terminal type to vt100 first.
