I think it is more because SCO doesn't understand linux's default terminal type
'linux'. Setting term to vt100 on login will do the trick.
/etc/issue etc will set the login banner message - say
:r /etc/issue.net

After that, the sco box doesn't recognize the default 'linux' terminal type of
the linux box.
