 you can try some of the following

octave   http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/octave.html 

numpy    I managed to find an i386 rpm after much difficulty otherwise one
         will have to compile from source. I dont remember exactly, but i
         was facing some troubles in doing that

jacal   http://www-swiss.ai.mit.edu/~jaffer/JACAL.html i came acroos this
        just now, so dont have much idea whats it exactly. will be
        checking out now

disclaimer: I have not tried any of them for any serious work. Though i
intend to start on some numpy soon
