Well, vlock -a will lock up all the vt's; including the one on X is running.
A simple vlock is good enough.

And one more thing - vlock is, I think, RHL specific.

what if you do just su username? The system won't lock up. Or ftp into
that user's account and put /dev/null .bash_profile? It is better to
change that user's shell in /etc/passwd to vlock.
