Hi, I'm up against the wall (working 4 hours with no soln.). I've downloaded the 1st CD (docs say that is enough to get going) of official potato and mounted it -t iso9660 -o loop. Then I've exported it via nfs. (want to check out before burning the CD). dd both boot and root floppies. Start up PowerPC 8550/200 with sda (probably all macs come with sda, I don't know) and inserted boot, and then root. Started installation and installed base system via nfs. works fine if I chroot to /target . After reboot mac cannot boot from sda and asks for floppy. I boot up using floppy mount sda2 and can see that every thing is ok in the partition. The docs say something about yaboot being better than quik for new world macs, but the default install uses quik. I tried to make a Apple_Bootstrap partition but that didn't work out, and I'm unable to make a hfs partition (the 800k partition mentioned in the docs). So how do I make the system boot from sda? SCSI port is on board and since I can use the disk probably this is no driver problem. And one more problem: I installed SuSE-6.4 on intel machine with 3Com FDDI card model 3C805. How do I use it? I couldn't locate a suitable module from kernel docs or lib/modules of the default install (card is showing up in proc/pci but that's all (vendor unknown). 3Com site o floppy has no modules or drivers. Default kernel seems to be FDDI enabled. Hope someone has seen these before, Thanks, Indraneel /************************************************************************. # Indraneel Majumdar E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # Bioinformatics Unit (EMBNET node), URL: http://scorpius.iwarp.com # # Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, # # Hyderabad, India - 500076 # `************************************************************************/ ---------------------------------------------- LIH is all for free speech.
