You'll have to setup tnsnames.ora which usually lives
in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin or
$ORACLE_HOME/net80/admin. In this file (which u can
edit with ur fav. editor) you have to specifiy the
following thins:
1. Service Name -- this is the connection name (eg.
my_connection)
2. HOST (or its ip address),
3. PORT (usually 1521) and
4. oracle SID (default ORCL, but may depend upon your
Solaris Oracle setup).
The exact syntax is there in the file with
preconfigured examples.
Once you've set it up, you can connect to the server
using:
sqlplus username/password@my_connection
Have Fun!
