IIRC, if your ftp client understands PASV (passive ftp / ftp -p) then squid
will proxy ftp requests for ftp clients as well.

that being the standard ftpproxy - SuSE has improved it quite a bit. I suggest
you check it out if you have a SuSE box somewhere.
