welcome gaurav
u do the following things to install RHL
Make a small / 20 MB Linux partition within the first 1024 cylinders.
This would mean that it is in the first 8 GB of HDD.
Then assign the mount point as "/boot".
Thereafter you can put the root partitions etc. anywhere.
However I would suggest that instead of going in for a single big root
partition of 4 G, you instead make 2G for root, and put the rest as
the /usr, so in case you have to reinstall the system,
your data would not be affected.
OR
Next boot from the RH6.2 CD and select Custom install.
You can create the following logical partitions from fdisk/disk druid
/ - 200MB
/home - 1GB
swap - 200MB
/usr - 1.5GB
and assign the mount point /boot to the 20MB partition.
(you can change the above to suit your needs)
Select the packages you require....
Install lilo in the first sector of the boot partition and not the MBR.
After install if the system boots to windows, run fdisk and change the
active partition. Reboot and at the lilo prompt type linux.
try it
manish
(happy linuxing)
