Note down the start and end sectors of each partiton displayed
using fdisk -ul /dev/hda. Then make a new partition table, change the
display to sectors (u in fdisk), and then keep on adding partition by
partition, hda1, hda2,hda3,hda5,..... using sector numbers. Change
the partion types to the original. Finally make the new partition hda4
using default settings.
This may help. I have actually recreated my partition table a few
times when it had been screwed.
