        Does the restricted keyword changes the mode of lilo.conf to 600??
I think its your responsibility to change the mode of lilo.conf or remove
the password once you update lilo. (Correct me)
        manual says:

      restricted
              A  password  is  only required to boot the image if
              parameters are specified on the command line  (e.g.
              single).
