Hi all,

I just got myself a cable internet connection from Incable. This is how
things work on Windows. I need to do this on Linux.

When the cable modem is switched on it connects to the Incable servers at
Andheri, MIDC. There it is assigned an ip address through DHCP through the
server running Winnt 4.0. This ip is then assigned to the NIC on your
machine & you can then start surfing the net because the browser
automatically takes the settings from the Incable proxy. Now how do I
replicate this on Linux.

We have a hub installed for our building. We are going to share this cable
modem for my building. How do I go about doing this?

One way would be to install another NIC on the machine which is connected to
the cable modem. Connect the NIC to the HUB. Will this work?

Will Linux accept a dynamic ip from a DHCP server running on NT?

I know that we discourage more than 1 question on the list per mail, but I
suppose an exception can be made this time.

TIA
Amol Gokhale
