Hi,

        Linux should work just fine for you with DHCP served off a NT box. 
A slightly funny thing that I ran into when setting up a Linux box as a LAN
gateway was that "pump" (the DHCP client) tries to do a reverse lookup while 
picking the IP address from the server. While there are times when it picks 
the IP addr & works just fine, on many occasions it fails.

The workaround I use is to run "pump -h <hostname> -i <interface>".
