"56. I always get the error message "Boot partition too big" while creating
partitions during installation.
This usually happens when LILO (The LInux LOader) is installed outside the
BIOS limit of 1024 cylinders. Create a small /boot partition within the 1st
1GB of your harddisk space and place LILO on it.
If you already have windows there, this is most probably not possible unless
you recreate the windows partition.

56a. I heard there is a new version of LILO out which supports hard disks
>1024 cylinders? Can i use it?
You heard right!
The new version of LILO (21.5.0 or later) can work with very large hard
disks if the BIOS supports EDD packet call extensions to the int 0x13
interface. The BIOS's found on Most new PC's do seem to be compatible with
this requirement.

The source code is available here:
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/boot/lilo/

56b. Errr... I am new to Linux and not familair with compiling source code.
Can i get LILO working without going into too much trouble?
Well... If you are not very conversant with compiling sources under Linux
and the whole Lilo thingy sounds too complicated to you, it would be easier
just to recreate things from scratch.
Delete *all* partitions on your hard disk including C:
Create a new primary partition for windows which >1GB preferably and create
an extended partition using DOS Fdisk. Do not create logical DOS drives at
this point. Repeat: DO NOT CREATE LOGICAL DOS DRIVES AT THIS POINT.
Install Windows on C:
Boot using the 6.2 Installation CD using text mode and /not/ GUI mode
Create /boot at the beginning of the extd partn, ie, it should come in line
right after /dev/hda1 (C:)
Create other Linux partitions as necessary for "/" etc
Complete installation "
