Hi all One stupid(as always) question, What is text mode on linux? If text can span till ASCII 255, what's the difference between text and binary mode? Sorry, I know this is something silly but I believe that there is no text and binary mode on linux. All we have is plain ASCII mode where all characters is all files are equal. Does anybody would like to comment. Especially if unused 8th bit in traditional 'text' mode is used for some other purposes etc. Maybe for compression... Bye Shridhar ---------------------------------------------- LIH is all for free speech. But it was created for a purpose. Violations of the rules of this list will result in stern action.
