First of all, Eterm and most other X applications use only the fonts
which are present in the X server. What I mean is, you have to put the
font somewhere in the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/ tree, and let the X
server know about this (search the archives for ways to do this for
ttf or other fonts).
Second thing is - Eterm is a terminal emulator, and terminals normally
cannot use proportional fonts like ttfs - they use fixed width fonts
where each letter is the same width. Lots of programs depend on this
fact, so it doesn't make sense to extend a terminal emulator to use a
ttf font either.
If you want to see other fonts in Eterm, the fixed width fonts are in
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/. For eg, run "Eterm -F 9x15" - don't
give the full path of the font.
HTH..
