Well, as long as the system is handled by us (read, who has some knowledge
about linux...) we do a proper shutdown. But our solution (on linux) is
being used by numerous clients & many a times they do the mistake of
powering off directly (atleast 5 % of them !). I thought reiserfs would
be of help here.

It *is* better. But I was just trying to see whether there's someother fs
better than that.
