Hiall
Does anyone want to start a training centre for linux? To begin with, I have
no money. ;) I am interested in arrangements where we could hire some rooms
for sessions on weekends kind of thing. Of course I want to make money but
the cause is dual. The mission is to fast forward linux in india.
I hope thats will put this on the list and this is not too bad to be thru i
feel.
Regards
Sachin Dole

Subject: RE: [LIH] linux courses
Hi Girish:
My experience has been equally bad and this was also from NIIT (not from a
franchisee). The course included sendmail and the instructor had us believe
that setting up Pine was all that is needed for sendmail to work. Don't ask
me
what he meant. It took three days for the instructor to set up NFS although
we
later discovered that all it needs is two minutes
The point is that there are too many people trying to make a fast buck
cashing
in on the brand image of the institution and users need to be wary of what
they
are paying for. This does not bode well for a healthy growth of Linux in
India
and in fact may prove to be a deterrent for adoption of this excellent OS.
Learning with the book is the best way although it is difficult to learn in
a
networked environment for an individual. We could help each other through
lists and user groups but even this has limited scope.
