Hi!
It is a problem which keeps cropping up regularly ...
We have dedicated servers hosted in USA by third parties ... we have been
having some for years now ...
The problem is that in some the kernel is old .. in some the glibc is old
... so newer precompiled software (like JDK) refuse to get installed ...
Sometime we are left with no choice but to either upgrade the kernel or
worse upgrade the glibc or even upgrade the dist ...
Some of you folks must have done these stuff a number of time .. what i
wanted to know are the loopholes or likely problems that might come up in
upgrading :
1. kernel 2.1 to kernel 2.2
2. glibc 2.0 to glibc 2.1
3. glib2.1.1 to glibc2.1.2
4. redhat 5.0 to 6.0 or 6.2
Any folks who have gone through this before?
Thanks,
Sandip
