i have PII 300 64 MB RAM intel 440 LX mother board 20GB SAMSUNG HDD PRIMARY MASTER 4.3 GB SEAGATE HDD SEC MASTER SAMSUNG SAMTRON 55V 15" Monitor and TRIDENT 3DIMAGE975 AGP WITH 4MB VRAM I have installed linux 6.2 from pc quest on 2 GB logical partition on second hard disk I am not able to configure loadlin, I get kernel panic error. loadlin used to work when i had only one hdd. now it displays some message that your linux is on second partition though i give proper parameters like hdc7 also, I can not configure X windows. my video card is detected properly. but the things don't work somehow. I tried all possible combinations. i tried Xconfigurator, setup and xf86config to configure x windows. when i do startx i can see the desktop, even the first screen and icon start appearing and then suddenly monitor displays vertical bands which we see on telivision when there is no signal and machine hangs. Even with SUSE 6.1 i get same problem. However with suse yast and Xconfigsetup, x windows loads properly for minimal settings. but all applications crash when i try to use them. i can not run any application in gui mode. I was able to to use x windiws with redhat 6.1 from pcq with above configuration, but i had only oneseagate hdd and tvm monitor instead of new advanced samtron monitor.
