as some of you gave ans about 810 chipset i thought it would be better that for me to
specify that i have 44obx mother board
i have tried to edit xf86config manually both the monitor section & the
trident section
in the monitor section i have inserted the monitor mode lines.
and as i read in one of the mails i inserted these lines
Selection "Device"
Identifier "Trident 3DImage975 AGP (Generic)"
VendorName "Trident"
BoardName "3DImage9750"
Chipset "3DImage975"
VideoRam 4096
Option "noaccel"
and still xwindows didnt work and it gave some msgs and it shutdowned
interestingly i noticed that it displayed warning that in fonts section the entry true
type fonts was not there
i checked it out and didnt found that so any of you guys know that this can cause a
problem ? if then how do i solve it?
another thing that i found out in the mails that the Xfree server old ones do not
support the trident 975 so how do i upgrade and where do i get it?

i have installed red hat6.2 from pc quest cd everything went well
till the xwindow configuration
now core linux is working properly i get the $ prompt and the lilo boot
i have trident 3dimage975 agp of 4mb and samtron55e monitor
xconfigurator detects my monitor very well,i choose custom monitor
as samtron55e is not on the list i have tried various combination
of frequencies which are less than my monitors vertical frequency
and when i run xwindow monitor blanks out for some resolution for other
i get gnome screen and system hangs.
so please help me with it
