do u need the uidl part ?
since eth uses ms***** for email server, i suggest a forcecr at the end
also let the timeout be default
before try 'telnet pop3.eth.net 110' when connected to net
and u should get the ESMTP banner, if not u shud check the
name resolution -- try nslookup, if it say 'default servers not available' then
check ur /etc/resolv.conf
