I am able to split the MIME digests using the script
metamutt from http://www.spinnaker.de/mutt/metamutt
It uses formail to generate a temporary mbox and
passes
it to mutt. Someone can remove the mutt invocation and
we can use it for splitting nicely.
On a personal note, I got bored with digests as they
come once in two days. By the time I read them, the
thread would be over.
