the mount options to be used are usrquota and grpquota in /etc/fstab for the 
required filesystems.
after this you can use mount -o remount <filesystem> for the new options to 
come in effect.

>then use edquota - u <username>

before you run edquota you must run quotacheck on the file system with the 
quota support.
go to /home and /var and run quotacheck.
this will create quota.user and quota.group on the root of the respective 
filesystem.

then run edquota and the last part is to run quotaon on the filesystems with 
quota support.
