When you've been using Unix for 15 years (like some of us here have)
nroff and nroff macros are no secret.

I've /written/ long documents in nroff in my heyday, for pete's sake!
It was the only option until TeX became popular, and then someone came
up with something called WYSIWYGIETC (what you see is what you get,
i.e. total cr*p) and ruined the whole art of document writing. :)
