Hi,

  I installed Linux 2.2 ( RH 6.0 ) on my Compaq AP400 as a second OS. (
NT being primary : ) <project requirements> ). On startup NT loader
starts up LILO. LILO tries to boot up Linux after a small timeout, but
fails and throws up an inittab file not found error and prompts me for a
run level. But for any run level it gives a " No process found at this
run level error " and freezes. So I forced the kernel to bypass init's
standard processing and drop me in a bash shell as root by passing
init=/bin/sh rw as argument to kernel. The problem now is how do I find
out which files init must be reading from so that I can modify them (
shouldn't the RH installer have done that automatically to include
standard processes and mounts ? or did I do a unclean : ( install.)

Can anybody guide me towards some documents which tell a newbie how to
go about solving the above problem or rather how to go about setting up
a pretty decent Linux installation ( and maybe the boot sequence that
LILO - Kernel follow )

Any hints and tips will be appreciated.

Regards

Saju
