hi diwakar,
to install the fonts you create a folder under /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts say
tamil as root.
mkdir /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tamil
them copy all your fonts into this folder.then change to the folder and run a
mkfontdir command
[user@host]usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tamil#mkfontdir
you will get a "fonts.dir" file in that directory.
now add this path to your fontpath in the XF86Config file.
or if you use xfs the edit /etc/X11/fs/config file and add the path to the
catalogue directive.

eg.
in /etc/X11/XF86Config
FontPath "usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tamil"

or in etc/X11/fs/config

catalogue = /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/100dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/tamil

restart the X server and xfs and fure up gfontsel or xfontsel to check if you
get the fonts listed. But I suggest you use true type fonts in tamil rather
that pcf and bdf fonts.

regards

sanjeev
