Well, the accepted format is:
<relevant portion of original>
<your comments>
<more relevant portion>
<more comments>
<your signature>
Edit out the irrelevant parts, original signatures, footers added by
lists etc.
Look up Nancy McGough's writings on netiquette on the net. I don't have
a URL handy, but check www.best.com or www.ii.com (or do a google search).
