In fact once I did a crazy thing and installed skeleton debian on a new
partition with a webserver , lynx , mc, perl and few other things.
Then created ramdisk for /var /usr /home mounted these through rc.sysinit,
copied the content from / partition.
Then burned the entire thing on a CD-ROM as ext2 file system, booted through
loadlin and root device as /cdrom.
And my box was up with apache server, lynx, perl, mc, and a bash login too.
I will do some more experimentation with harddisk partition and let you
know.
