i'm now 2 weeks old as a linux newbie. i feel very comfortable with
linux (mandrake 7.2). two things i'm struggling with are installing
software and fonts.
i downloaded antiword and followed the installation instructions. now
i've got two files installed in /root/bin : antiword and kantiword shell
script. but it doesnt work. how do we execute a shell script? using the
terminal i cd-ed to /root/bin and typed kantiword, but it didnt respond.
(likewise i eagerly downloaded this "ttnews", the newsticker that gets
headlines from /., newsforge, andovernews, wired and lots of other
sites. but the tar.gz file is still there, me not having a clue on how
to install it. the instructions in the read me files dont help me).
what am i to do now to use antiword?
