 DLink being the rtl8139 / via rhine?  I dont know if it's just me, but those
 cards are _really_ crappy under linux from what I've seen of them ("dirty
 queue entry, txqueuelen [blah] followed by a network interface freeze that
 sometimes requires a power-off + power+on to fix it).  
 
 Check out the lkml archives at vger.kernel.org for more (there's a link to a
 page which lists how different network cards perform on linux).
