the SiS630 makes a stupendous VCD watching machine with XFree86-4.0.1
Simply install that and it'll configure to a nice 640x480 size using svga
server. Hand hack it to 800x600 if possible, and load the DRI modules and
you're done. Use
mtvp -aq2 -ac0 -Wr vcd:0

to play (no rewind possible, this can only go forward). Watch real smooth
movies better than on a G4/500MHz/256MB/19"Trinitron (checked out myself)
or an SGI O2/Octane. In fact this is what I have at home.
