Hi,
I've got a radio modem hooked up with an ISP called A-team in Erode. The
modem works fine in windoze, but refuses to connect in linux.
Here's what I've done so far:
Using kppp, the modem connects to the ISP, but pppd fails with signal 15. I
tried to connect manually with minicom. I'm able to dial up a number and get
a carrier detect, with the message "CONNECT 115200" but after that, the ISP
server doesn't give me any login prompt or start ppp. The terminal stays
blank. I tried sending carriage returns, and even blindly started pppd by
hand, but there's no login prompt and the pppd fails with signal 15.
I'm using kernel 2.4.1 with pppd 2.4.0.
In windoze, the connect works fine. The modem is detected as a standard 28.8
kbp/s modem and the dial-up manager uses PAP for authentication. The windoze
log fine mentions something along these lines:
Sent AT
Received ok
Sent ATE0V1
Received ok
Sent AT
Received ok
Sent ATDT xxx
Received CONNECT 115200
Connection established
Logging into server
I tried using the same strings in linux but after the "CONNECT 115200"
response from the ISP's server, I'm stuck. I seem to be stuck at the
authentication part.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm presently unsubscribed from this list ('coz I'm
preparing for my entrance exams), so could you please cc: me when you reply
to the mail.
Thank you, and sorry for the long mail.
Regards,
Vinu
