> hello everybody ,
> I am installing 6.2 linux on Hp brio system with having
realteak pci network card . the problem is it detects my network card
installs it . and it uses ne2k-pci ( as shown in conf.modules ) but i am
unable to ping or trace my network . but im able to ping loopback or the ip
which i have given to it while installation . also when i type the command
netstat -rn the results shows

this i too faced while the last cafe server setup, and i had no choice,
since the cable
people had some how fixedup their part such that the cable works only
through
this card.

I hope the card is real tek 8139 chip set and not 8029.
if it is 8139, then get the floppy which came with it, and
use mcopy to copy /linux onto your machine.
then open up the /linux/8139.c, towards
the end, you will find the command to compile,
you need to tweak up the command, to work.
and compile the 8139.c file, move the resulting
8139.o file to /lib/modules/<kernel>/net
and do modprobe, or insmod.
check out dmesg to find if the card is detected,
if it is detected, do init 1 and then init 3.

happy networking ???
