to setup DNS have a look at man named
and test it using nslookup

to have correct result from nslookup put

"nameserver 127.0.0.1 " without quotes at the top of /etc/resolve.conf

if u want i can give u two data base files for our DNS server ( one
for A quries and other for PTR ones ) for example purpose

actualy MX is used to define a mailexchanger host that is if the
final destination m/c is not working the mails can be delevered to
the next priority MX machine now u can put configuration for
host 2 like this

        MX 5 host2
        MX 10 this_host

this will stores host2's mail with this_hsot if host2 is not available

keep yr host2 off and check it out

other pls add more if missed something

enj0y linux
