Well, i don't know if this might help but pursuit of fun is also,
obviously, an end ;-)

...So i was just wondering why *Jay* wanted to learn *programming* (which
if i might be allowed to add is how  this thread started, until it became
programming = C (don't flame me on this one;-))

Cause if it wasn't to an *ends* (your definition of ends), which means was
for the thrill of it, then i think he should stick to basic, cause that is
where i had most of my *fun* ;-)

But if that person was aiming for world peace and a better wvdial then i
guess  c/c++ = programming fits the bill quietly nicely. 

(well, c is fun too but i don't know if Jay would find it so too, so just
asking what he really wanted)
