Hi,
first up, i am new to Linux. have a PCQ RH 6.1, 2.2.12 kernel.
i always get the following error when i start netscape:
"Could not allocate default colormap entry for the colors...see xdpyinfo for
supported visuals and start netscape with netscape -visual 'supported
visual'" (not quoted verbatim)
which is what i did. but even after trying all the visuals listed by
xdpyinfo, netscape behaves very awkwardly, failing to show any pictures, and
displaying very odd colors. i tried 'netscape -install' too, but that does
not work either.
any body has any idea on how to solve this problem?
also, within my /etc/rc.d directory, there are rc.0, rc.1...rc.6
directories, do those specify the run levels?
and lastly, what would be a better distro to use, RH or Debian, since i am
planning to install Linux on a second machine?
Thanks,
Kanwal Kumar
P.S. Very OT, what really is the story behind your title of "Lower Middle
Class System Administrator"?
