You will have to use some dos based client to connect to the linux server.
Put that client on the Novell Server and then let the users run that
client after getting F: or whatever from Novell. That's what we are doing
here. We are using a software called GT( this software is some 10 years
old software, so please don't ask me about the link ) and we have assigned 
fixed IP addresses to diskless nodes. This GT software uses RARP protocol. 
We have put all the mappings of Ethernet Card address - to - ip addresses 
in /etc/ethers and than we invoke rarp -f /etc/ethers in our startup
scripts.

Some of the listers might give u some link to dos based client.
