Hi
We are trying to dial-up to an ISP from a remote location where the
telephone system is pulse dialing (I am told the switching system used is
C-DOT, whatever that means). Whereas on the city where the ISP is, the
system is dial tone.
I am first trying to connect from minicom and have failed to get a stable
connect.
Now when we dial (pulse dial) the modem most of the time does not detect
dial-tone, or when it does detect and dials, connection is not established
or if connection is established, I get the ISP login prompt rarely and most
of the time I get lot of garbages. I changed terminal settings and it
doesn't seem to help. When I do get login prompt and login successfuly
(rarely), the connection is lost or PPP doesn't start properly.
All these problem are present only from there. So I guess the problems may
be related to line quality.
Once, a technician told me that setting 'wait for dial tone' may help but
how do I do that ?
Also suggested was putting a sound-filter on the phone-line.
Also, I have tried ATX3 and XTX4 and ATX1 and ATX2 but not much help.
Any suggestion to improve connection is greatly appreciated.
TIA
Bharat
